Soft orange monkey flower and iridescent purple penstemon make a splendid pair. They put on a long show together starting as soon as the weather warms up in spring as part of a dry, sunny border planting.

I am a garden designer based in Oakland. I specialize in sustainable, low-water landscapes that feature native plant communities and edible plants.

The freshest produce grows right outside your door - with the long growing season in the Bay Area we are so fortunate to be able to grow fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs year round.
In the San Francisco Bay Area's Mediterranean climate there are many special considerations to make when creating a landscape. With our current drought and normal seasonal pattern of long dry summers we can still have beautiful landscapes that require less water and maintenance.
I approach the design process as a collaborative experience, taking inspiration and guidance from you by balancing your dreams with your budget, as well as making design choices that reflect the special conditions unique to your garden site. Together we can create a beautiful, thriving garden.
